Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our necks before emperors; but today we kneel only to Truth, follow only Beauty, and obey only Love.
Quotes about Freedom
Belongings can be stolen, freedom destroyed, life taken away but knowledge, knowledge is ours forever.
The true value of a door is that it is attached to something solid, greater than itself -- likewise, the true value of your freedom is that it is attached to a solid, driving purpose, greater than yourself.
Happiness comes when your work and words are of benefit to yourself and others.
Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.
In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.
Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true
Morality as taught by way of rules is extremely powerful and valuable in the development of practice. It must be remembered that it, like all the techniques in meditation, is merely a tool to enable one to eventually get to that place of unselfishness where morality and wisdom flow naturally. In the West, there's a myth that freedom means free expression--that to follow all desires wherever they take one is true freedom. In fact, as one serves the mind, one sees that following desires, attractions, repulsions is not at all freedom, but is a kind of bondage. A mind filled with desires and grasping inevitably entails great suffering. Freedom is not to be gained through the ability to perform certain external actions. True freedom is an inward state of being. Once it is attained, no situation in the world can bind one or limit one's freedom. It is in this context that we must understand moral precepts and moral rules.
Without gratitude, we have no wings. The highest and last freedom is to feel ever-increasing gratitude.
The only freedom which deserves the name is that of pursuing our own good in our own way, so long as we do not attempt to deprive others of theirs, or impede their efforts to obtain it. Each is the proper guardian of his own health, whether bodily, or mental or spiritual. Mankind are greater gainers by suffering each other to live as seems good to themselves, than by compelling each to live as seems good to the rest.

Wind in my hair astride my steed
Ancient memories of great prairies
Abundant with Buffalo
Majestic mountains
Gold grass waving
Freedom in the wind
Over ancient lands
Colors magnificent
Warrior pride
The days of wild ponies a memory
The horse is steel
The spirit lives
The ancestors in the wind call my name.

The template for happiness is to offer goodness to the world for true happiness is achieved when one gives freely of their heart and soul.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?"
Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that
other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

The world is warfare between Man and God. God has made Man His absolute and eternal slave to quench His ultimate vanity, and Man has waged a war on God to seek a quick and complete freedom from the ultimate slavery. The war will never be won, nor will it ever be lost.
“We must be free not because we claim freedom, but because we practice it.”
The journey to personal freedom can only be achieved if you listen to the voice of your soul.
If we colour our spirits with rainbows we can create a revolution of consciousness where we live free and determine our own destinies.
Knowledge of Dzogchen is like

cannot be conditioned by anyone or anything.
Immature people falling in love destroy each other's freedom, create a bondage, make a prison. Mature persons in love help each other to be free; they help each other to destroy all sorts of bondages. And when love flows with freedom there is beauty. When love flows with dependence there is ugliness.
A mature person does not fall in love, he or she rises in love. Only immature people fall; they stumble and fall down in love. Somehow they were managing and standing. Now they cannot manage and they cannot stand. They were always ready to fall on the ground and to creep. They don't have the backbone, the spine; they don't have the integrity to stand alone.
A mature person has the integrity to stand alone. And when a mature person gives love, he or she gives without any strings attached to it. When two mature persons are in love, one of the great paradoxes of life happens, one of the most beautiful phenomena: they are together and yet tremendously alone. They are together so much that they are almost one. Two mature persons in love help each other to become more free. There is no politics involved, no diplomacy, no effort to dominate. Only freedom and love.
America is woven of many strands; I would recognize them and let it so remain. It's 'winner take nothing' that is the great truth of our country or of any country. Life is to be lived, not controlled; and humanity is won by continuing to play in face of certain defeat. Our fate is to become one, and yet many -- This in not prophecy, but description.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.
Inspiration is the child of spontaneity.
Spontaneity is the child of choice.
Freedom to be spontaneous is freedom to choose.
Now that's inspirational!
It is not freedom from, but rather freedom within, freedom to.
When you say "Wait a moment," you are bound by your own karma; when you say "Yes I will," you are free.
God loved the birds and invented the trees, men loved the birds and invented cages
